Vidya Balan has proved once again
Vidya Balan’s staggering start ‘Parineeta’ followed by Lage Raho Munna Bhai, created a mark in Bollywood with her beauty and performance.Later her movies failed at box office and hard work turned vain her good start.
However, things have been changed with ‘Ishqiya’ Vishal Bhardwaj’s film and her performance opposite Naseer was admirable, it was last year’s first hit. Fortunately she started this year with award winning performance in No One Killed Jessica, which was marked as a first hit of the 2011.
Beauty without performance may fade out and disappear but performance will remain. That has been proved once again by Vidya Balan.

Everybody has a quirky passion and we have learned that Vidya Balan’s passion is to collect saris. The actress, who has sported many saris at various events and parties, owns at least 500 of them. Her enviable collection includes saris from various Indian designers and she takes care in making sure all of them are laid out well in her wardrobe.
She takes them out every month to make sure that they are being preserved well. Maybe Vidya should check out if there is a Guinness Book of records in owning saris. She could certainly compete as her passion is showing no signs of dying down.
Vidya Balan and Amitabh Bachchan joined hands once again
Vidya Balan and Amitabh Bachchan shared a terrific screen chemistry in the film ‘Paa’ where they played the role of a mother and son. And while that film went on to give ‘Auro’ his national award, the buzz is out that Vidya and Amitabh are teaming up again.
And yet again, they are not playing the romantic pair (which is surprising given that Amitabh has romanced younger lots like Tabu and Jiah Khan in ‘Cheeni Kum’ and ‘Nishabd’ respectively).
Well! Renowned Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh is all geared up to bring on celluloid the tale of Kabulliwallah penned by the Noble Award winner Rabindranath Tagore. Amitabh shall play the protagonist Kabulliwallah who woos the young girl Mini with his baadam pistas and akhroths. Vidya shall play the grow-up avatar of Mini.
Vidya Balan is pretty gung ho about this project as Kabulliwallah is one of her fav stories. Vidya often wonders what may have happened to the character of Mini post her marriage. This is, surely, a touching, moving tale of an old man and an inquisitive girl and deserves a celluloid immortality by the likes of great actors like Amitabh.
Vidya Balan wants to act like Silk Smitha
The life of the late Silk Smitha is being made into a film. Vidhya Balan is donning her role. Vidhya Balan is practicing the hip shake dance to dance like Silk Smitha for a month’s time. Silk Smitha enticed the audience with her magnetic eyes. In 1980s there was never a film without her.
She had almost acted with every hero including Rajni and Kamal. Silk Smitha who entertained the audience encountered lots of personal life. There were rumors linking her with producers, actors and call sheet managers. One day she committed suicide.
Producer Ektha Kapoor has planned to produce her bio-pic in Hindi and South Indian languages. This film has been tentatively titled Dirty Picture. Many actresses were considered to do the role of Silk Smitha. Finally it was decided that Vidhya Balan would be suitable to do this role. Vidhya is taking training from a South Indian choreographer to dance like Smitha.
Producer Ektha Kapoor while speaking to the media said,” This film is not made keeping in glamour in mind. This film illustrates about the relationship between an actress and a producer. The talented actress Vidhya Balan will be suitable for the role of Silk Smitha. Director Milan Luthria and I have done a lot of research about Silk Smitha. The important factor of this film is dance. After confirming the hero, Vidhya Balan will be taking practice in dance.”
Jaya Bachchan feels Vidya luck for ABCL Coporation
The two recently met at Shabana Azmi’s party they greeted each other warmly, Jaya was all praise for the southern beauty & spent a considerable amount of time chatting with her.
Says sources, "At Shabana’s party Jayaji hugged Vidya and was so glad to see her there. She is very fond of Vidya and considers her to be lucky for the production house since PAA did extremely well. If sources are to be believed Vidya Balan may soon be signing on their next venture.
Vidya's a bound craftsman Prithiviraj
The film, a tri-lingual in Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil, will be co-produced by Prithviraj. Urumi, made at a cost of Rs 20 crore, is perhaps the biggest pan-Indian multi-starrer in the making with a host of stars like Prithviraj, Prabhudeva, Genelia, Nithya Menon, Amol Gupte and Jagathy Sreekumar, besides 45 British actors and special appearances by Tabu, Vidya Balan and Vikram.
How did Urumi evolve and what made you turn producer? If there is a god in cinematography, it has to be Santosh Sivan! He weaves magic with the camera. This will be my third film with him. Santosh narrated the story of Urumi three years ago to me when I played the lead role in his Anandabhadram. Later, during the making of Raavanan, things started taking shape and finally, along with my friend Shaji Natesan, we joined hands as producers.
Vidya in a brand new powerful avatar
Kill Bill is a revenge drama and it is a golden opportunity for Vidya to display her talents once again in the powerful role of a woman, who is betrayed by the people she trusts and then how she takes revenge from them. Her role also demands some action sequences from her. This will be the first time, Balan, who is known for her soft image on screen, will be seen doing stunts for a role.

Vidya Balan signs for Sujoy Ghosh movie
As for the lead role, Sujoy Ghosh has already signed Vidya Balan. As the film is a woman oriented subject, “Sujoy was keen to have an actress who would do justice to the role and hence he chose Vidya Balan for the lead,” says our source.
The film is based in Kolkata and is expected to go on floors in Ocotber this year. Ghosh’s entire pre-production team is in Kolkata preparing for the film. However, everyone is very tightlipped about the entire project. “Sujoy has always been very hush hush about his movies. He does not like to talk about the film till he is completely satisfied with the shoot,” said the source.
Vidya Balan refused the Mollywood
Vidya Balan’s plans of performing a complex Mohiniyattam dance for Santosh Sivan’s Malayalam film Urumi have been postponed due to her shoulder condition. The actress says she can’t dance until she is fully recovered otherwise she may have a life-long shoulder problem. "This has happened all because of my own stubbornness," said Vidya whose gym trainer had warned her against rigorous exercises.
"But I didn’t listen to him. Now I can’t dance until I am fully recovered. I still haven’t forgotten the impact of my classical number in Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The one in Santosh’s film would be far more sensuous and intricate."Vidya has a chronic shoulder condition which got aggravated after she insisted on going to the gym before it had healed completely. She has now had a relapse, leading to this excruciating pain.
"Now I’ve to wait out, I’ve no option. Otherwise I’ll have a life-long shoulder problem. I can’t wait to start rehearsing for Santosh Sivan’s dance number.
Though Vidya is a trained classical dancer, a Mohiniyattam guru has been specially hired by Sivan to teach her nuances of the dance form before she performs it for filming. Vidya’s training was to start this week. Her spirit and her feet are willing -- but the body is too weak to take the vigorous dancing. "I was in so much pain I couldn’t do any of the normal things, let alone dance," she said.
Speaking on the much talked-about item song, she said: "It’s more talked-about than actually performed. I was supposed to start preparing for it this week. Unfortunately I’ve been down with a painful shoulder condition for some time. And completely forbidden from doing anything strenuous."Vidya describes it as a fusion dance. "Since I was born in Kerala my family is so looking forward to my foray into Malayalam films. I thought a song is a very good place to start. Moreover, I totally admire Santosh Sivan’s work... who doesn’t?"

Vidya leading a healthier lifestyles by losing weight.
In a recent interview with Vidya Balan she talked about her losing weight and getting a better and healthier lifestyles. By her New looks and after losing weight Post 'Paa' and 'Ishqiya' Vidya Balan has become 'Hot cake' in Bollywood. 
She also thanked God for being too kind to her these days. She said that "I am being offered roles where I can learn a lot, as well as strain myself to get the actor out of me."
She also said about her losing weight: "You know, after years of torturing myself, I have finally trying to lead a better and healthier lifestyle." and further explained that "In order to lose weight, I used to starve myself for 12-14 hours at a stretch; didn't sleep enough."
"Now I eat every two hours; sleep for eight hours when I can or at least 5-6 hours when shooting. You know, there's a myth that sleep makes you fat. But I can now confidently say 'Sleep to lose weight'. Sleep is a very very important part of being fit."
"I generally work out 4-5 times a week for 45 minutes to an hour. Mostly I do calisthenics (strength training); at times I run on the beach or jog on the spot. The funda is to enjoy your sweating out."
