Along with Preity, the others conferred with honorary degrees were Lord Dholakia, OBE and Professor Lord Parekh.
Preity said, “I am humbled and excited at the nomination as it really makes me feel that my work has been worthy. I may not have managed to become a doctor in my younger years but that dream is now being fulfilled.”
UEL Vice-Chancellor Professor Patrick McGhee said, “I am delighted that we are able to honour Preity Zinta. We noticed her involvement in the Delhi blood donor camps and her tireless work in raising awareness for the challenges faced over AIDS, human trafficking and the plight of street children. Her involvement as Ambassador for the Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards and the Loomba Trust proves that she is not afraid to stand up for justice and those in need. We have also noted her writing over the past 10 years on important topics for the BBC.” Way to go Preity, more power to you.

Preity Zinta once again denied all such news and stated that her Kings XI Punjab is not for sale. She wrote on her micro blogging site Twitter. Her words were “How many times d news has 2 be WRONG about our stake sale! First Hero Honda and now Video-con! Speaks a lot for d quality of news in d country."
